Madrid was a nice city, I'd heard bad things but it seems
that is closes down in summer and that's when most people I
know had been. It was similar to London in the hustle and bustle
but had lots of squares fountains, gardens and parks. The palace
there doesn't look unlike Buckingham Palace. We did the tour
and it was like most palaces we've been too.
Language wise we got a phrase book and know how to order beer,
juice, water, coffee and breakfast. We used the phrase book
to decipher most menus, but on our last days I was feeling
brave and accidentally order a big slice of chocolate cake
instead of a milkshake, I got the milkshake too when the waitress
asked if I wanted anything to drink with my cake. At that same
restaurant we sort of got robbed. It was bizarre. We put 10
Euro on the tray to pay the bill and it was sitting beside
me, when a guy ran in and snatched it. Very cunning of him.
The restaurant didn't make us pay for it though - I guess they
thought it was their fault, as they didn't pick up the money
sooner.
