St Julian's11 - 15 March 2004Arriving at our hotel (Alexandar Palace Hotel) late in the evening we were greeted by a welcome drink - but one wasn't enough so we got to know each other over a few more, finally getting to bed at 2am. With a free day to begin our trip a few of us went to Valetta for the day. After a full day and a nap we began our assault on the town of St Julian's. St Julian's is the nightlife capital of Malta and rightly so. After rearranging a pizza place to accommodate the 13 of us we found a Karaoke bar where the DJ took a special shine to us and played all our favourites. No one was brave enough to try singing so we danced instead. A great night. Saturday meant an early start to get to Netball with a few nerves as well. The weather was gorgeous and we had a great day all in all. After more napping we were ready for St Julian's nightlife part 2. Tonight we dined at a fantastic restaurant where Brad Pitt had recently ate (his photo with the owner was on the wall). Can't say I blamed him as the fish was to die for - Anne found that out literally after a bit of choking on a fish bone. View
of restaurants and hilton in background Some girls went off to party while the rest of us went for a night cap at the newly completed Hilton. Very posh and flash and a perfect way to end a long day. By Sunday many of us had developed aches and pains so after a massive sleep in and lovely brunch overlooking the harbour a few of us went to Mdina. Back to the pizza place for dinner as they had been so accommodating. I went home early but the others found an interesting club to dance the last night away. Monday was very low key and all too soon it was home time again. Malta is so great - we only saw a tiny portion of it. I love to go back and check out the blue lagoon (the actual film site) amongst other things.
