Guide Heritage Centre

February 22, 2000

On this significant guiding day I visited Girl Guide headquarters in London. They have a very cool display/play area set up known as the Guiding Heritage Centre. An extremely friendly guider met me and gave me a run down on what I should expect. There was a bridge building room, a bit tricky to do on your own, but the group of Brownies also visiting had had a lot of fun. There was a history section with models.

Upstairs I became a Brownie again and crawled into the tree hollow to hear the brownie story from a wise old owl. All the activities upstairs were interactive. I tried to do a world badge puzzle but failed. I went better on the touch screen computer test about camping. I wouldn't be a very good ranger because I couldn't do the map reading test. In another tree I watched a video of a guide group. They certainly seemed to have a lot of fun. I thought the centre was very well set up and it brought back many special memories for me.
