Brighton
was much busier. The shops were great. There were a lot of speciality
shops and heaps of neat home design type shops. We found a traditional
pub to watch the Grand Prix.
We then went to the Brighton Pavilion.
It is very
unusual looking. George IV took a liking to the area and so
a modest farmhouse was converted into a palace. It is inspired
by Indian architecture and the interior takes its inspiration
from China. The most spectacular sight was the chandelier in
the Banquet room. Aside from that it wasnt that exciting.
Maybe thats a bit harsh. It was not how I imagined a palace
would look.
We went to the beach here also, and it was also covered in stones.
Brighton was where the seaside was invented. A doctor recognised
the benefits of the sea air and spending time relaxing and sent
many patients there and there you have it the seaside holiday.
We had a lot of fun in the evening on the Palace Pier. It is
full of side-shows. Gavin tried to show off his strength on
the hammer and bell machine but couldnt manage to ring
the bell. I was determined to win a toy and Gavin obliged in
the dolphin racing. It was a game where you rolled balls up
to a bunch of holes and when they went in your dolphin would
move along. I had a great time here.
